Misconceptions block their learning

Fractions is one of the most difficult topics for students to really understand.

In this one-day workshop with Tierney Kennedy, teachers will learn how to diagnose and address misconceptions in fractions for good.

During this one-day PD, your staff will:

• Watch a live demonstration lesson with students, including diagnosing and confronting underlying misconceptions;
• Learn how to use conceptual change approaches to find and fix persistent misconceptions in fractions; and
• Learn how to use simple diagnostic tasks to find where their students are stuck.

Sessions include:

Common misconceptions, developmental sequencing, diagnostic tasks and questioning for conceptual change, as well as how to teach difficult concepts such as operations, equivalence, conversion and relative size so they stick.

Course Details (limited to 40 places)

When:  Thursday 15th June, 8.45am – 3.00pm

Cost:  $300 per person, or $250 per person when you send a team of at least 3 (discount will apply automatically on check-out)
