WA: Fixing Misconceptions in Place Value (one-day workshop)

Place Value is one of the most important concepts for students to understand in mathematics.  By addressing misconceptions in Place Value, we can catch kids up quickly and effectively.

Teachers attending this one-day course will:

• Watch a live lesson demonstration, including diagnosing and confronting underlying misconceptions
• Learn to prioritise three key components of Place Value that must be understood deeply during primary school for students to be successful in high school
• Learn how to use questioning to create cognitive conflict and fix misconceptions for good

This course is ideal for:

• K-3 Teachers
• Learning Support Teachers
• 3-6 Teachers with students who appear to not understand numbers to 100
• Leaders and numeracy coaches who want to learn about sustainable whole-school change
