This two-day workshop introduces teachers to key concepts and strategies to help students make sense of number concepts.

Completed already: Day 1 – Key Number Concepts (31 May 22)
- Live demonstration lesson in a class chosen by course participants.
- Deconstructing student understanding in Place Value, Proportional Reasoning and Multiplicative Thinking. This includes a focus on underlying misconceptions and diagnostic strategies to identify issues.
Day 2 – Flexible Strategies (19 Jul 22)
- Developing 9 Flexible Strategies to teach all concepts from Years 3-9 mathematics as well as Essential and Foundations mathematics courses. Details of strategies are included in the Workshop Manual.
Follow up and mentoring:
- Follow up email at 3 and 6 months to prompt teachers to ask their questions and provide advice. Freely available phone and email mentoring for 12 months.
- Inclusion in an online mentoring group to encourage questions and discussion for 12 months.
- 12 month access to 6 pre-recorded webinar videos on: teaching place value, teaching early number concepts, teaching addition and subtraction, teaching multiplication and division, teaching algebra and teaching negative numbers.
