QLD: Tier 3 Intervention Training for Support Teachers and Aides

Set up and run a successful intervention in your school, using teaching assistants and a program leader to monitor results

• Build fluency using hands-on materials and games
• Monitor student growth
• Set your students up for success when back in class

All participants receive:

• A short online component, to be completed before the live day
• 1 live day of training, including two practical sessions with real students. Participants will build practical skills by using diagnostic testing to identify specific student misconceptions, then plan and trial a targeted mini-lesson with guidance and support from Tierney.
• 1 online day with 3 modules on key number concepts, as well as how to build students’ skills using games and physical manipulatives.
• Certification for three years as an Intervention Support Specialist, plus a certificate of attendance
• A Resource Pack, so participants are set up and ready to go

The Resource Pack includes:

• Misconception analysis tools
• Diagnostic testing
• Individual profiling tools
• Targeted lessons to address gaps
• Software for tracking growth
• Full set of interventions manuals (5 books)
• Full set of games and manipulatives

Program leaders also receive:

• 12 months of online support sessions (8 sessions in total), which includes modules on
  – how to set up and run a successful intervention,
  – how to analyse your data and identify students who need help, and
  – how to work with teachers
• A full year of follow up and support
• Access to all training materials
• Additional videos to support trained staff back at school
